Derek Shepherd
Derek is an engineering patternmaker by trade with 25 years' experience in foundry design.
​
In 1979, he and Madeline set up a communications company specialising in waterproof communications for rescue and military services.
​
He and Madeline also purchased a canvas printing business and formed Gaia VisualArts.
​
In 2014, Derek returned to his love of working in wood and now produces individually crafted pieces for sale and to customers' orders.

Madeline Shepherd

Madeline's background is in the film industry, working in publicity and administration for 20th Century-Fox and Lysander Films.
​
Since 1979, she has worked with Derek in their communications company.
​
On forming Gaia VisualArts, she has been in charge of enlarging, enhancing and printing customers' photographs onto canvas.
​
Latterly, Madeline has discovered a gift for painting. Largely self-taught, she specialises in landscapes, seascapes and pet portraits in acrylic on canvas and in watercolour.
